HALLOWEEN: Consider Donating a Costume to Kids in Need

When you are a kid, Halloween is one of the best holidays of the year. Unfortunately, it’s also an expensive holiday for parents. Costumes, candy, and decorations that are only used once are wasteful for parents on a strict budget, and with back-to-school bills that haven’t been paid off and the holidays on the horizon, families in need often have to cut the fun out of Halloween. Thankfully, there are organizations that are out there lending a hand. If you want to get involved many local organizations like Rotary and the United Way have costume drives where you can donate a costume so local kids can all get in on the fun.

There’s also an awesome charity called Weendream that donates costumes to kids all over the U.S. According to their site, “Weendream gives costumes to kids from all over America who are faced with unique challenges, including those with special needs, physical and/or mental disabilities, homeless children, kids living in poverty or at shelters, children with serious medical issues, kids in the foster care system, and kids who have experienced a recent trauma or natural disaster.” You can either host your own costume drive, make a monetary donation, or log on to their website and purchase a costume from their Amazon wishlist.
