New Yorkers spend a whopping 236 hours -- 10 full days -- stuck in rush hour traffic every year. Looking at it another way, it took the typical New Yorker 25 minutes to complete an average six mile commute.

 Be happy you don't live in New York City, which was just named the "most congested" city in America. According to the Tom Tom Traffic Index, New Yorkers spend a whopping 236 hours -- 10 full days -- stuck in rush hour traffic every year. Looking at it another way, it took the typical New Yorker 25 minutes to complete an average six mile commute. The Big Apple was followed closely by Washington, D.C., and San Francisco, both of which required drivers o spend roughly 20 minutes to travel 6 miles.
