- The other reason vaccines work is that everyone has that 93-percent protection, which multiplies it. Herd protection, they call it.
- Most outbreaks can be traced back to foreign visitors from countries with less stringent vaccination protocols.
- Some doctors' offices won't treat unvaccinated children.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that the disease has spread to 21 states plus the District of Columbia, sickening 107 people through July 14th. That puts the U.S. well on track to surpass last year, when 118 people from 15 states and D.C. got the measles. The record is 667 cases in 2014.
