Whether you’re a breakfast person or not, there’s truth to the age-old saying, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Previous research has proved that eating a morning meal burns more carbohydrates during exercise, speeds up digestion, and metabolizes food more efficiently.
It’s not just a matter of if you eat breakfast but also when. Researchers from Northwestern University found that people who ate breakfast before 8:30 a.m. had lower blood sugar levels and less insulin resistance than those who ate later in the morning. But that’s not even close to being all.
A new study compared breakfast eaters to non-breakfast eaters and determined that those who eat breakfast, have more successful careers.
- Those who do eat breakfast are more likely to receive a promotion at work.
- 65% of breakfast eaters say they have moved up in a position throughout their career compared to 38% who don’t eat breakfast.
- Those who start their day with breakfast also report slightly higher overall life satisfaction.
- 7 in 10 breakfast eaters say they feel “optimistic about what the future holds.”
