This technique is suppose to get you to sleep in... SUPPOSEDLY ONE MINUTE!
Here's how you do it: Inhale to a count of four, hold your breath for a count of seven, and exhale for a count of eight. Repeat as much as you need to.
Now, why does this work? Well, breath retention also does a calming number on the parasympathetic nervous system, and it can also help to slow and cool down your brain.

Splash Your Face With Some Cold Water
Apperently, it helps cool down your brain in order to relax and fall asleep faster. In turn, sleeping in a cool room or near a slightly open window can keep your head cold enough to fall a sleep.
